Reef Check Australia provides the opportunity to get involved in a great marine conservation project. They currently offer part time and full time training courses in various areas across Queensland.
This allows you to become a Reef Check scuba diver of snorkeler. The training consists of three modules; an introduction to methods, substrate ID module, invertebrate & impact and finally fish module. The first three modules are core training modules that involve a mixture of classroom theory and hands on practice. Once these are completed you are then trained in the fish survey module.
The course provides participants with a Reef Check EcoDiver certification that makes you qualified to join the teams of surveyors in the water. This experience allows for you to get involved with scientific marine research, where you will be collecting important data for the rehabilitation of the reef. Which will also enable you to participate in marine research in sites all over the world.
