Music, moonlight and a shimmering ocean in the background will provide the perfect backdrop for the all-white Migaloo Starlight Swing at Urangan’s Pier Park on Friday 31 October.
The event is the final celebration in the season-long Hervey Bay Whale Festival which included last weekend’s Whale Aid Concert and Paddle Out for Whales in July.
Fraser Coast Opportunities Events Manager Kim Griffith said after a whole season of celebrating the visiting humpback whales, the Festival would come to a stylish end with a delightful evening of dancing under the stars.
“The theme for the evening is white in honour of Migaloo, the famous white whale who visits Hervey Bay waters, and we are asking people to wear white and dress a little dapper,” Ms Griffith said.
“Wine tasting, bar facilities and food platters will be available to purchase. People can also bring a picnic or grab a bite to eat from one of the local cafes and takeaways and use some of the additional table seating that will be provided.”
Premier regional band Soul City, an eight piece cover band, will provide the music for the night.
Entry is free, however those attending are asked to make a donation to the Whale Festival’s conservation partner for 2014, IFAW, the International Federation for Animal Welfare Australia.
The Migaloo Starlight Swing will start at 6.30pm and finish at 10pm. For further details go to www.whalesherveybay.com.au
